Where do I even begin?! First let me start by mentioning that I am a Type-A organizing queen with a scheduling obsession. Being that I am a college student with a million different obligations, appointments, meetings, and assignments, planning things in advance is an absolute must for me. Even my friends will tell you, I am a stickler for having things planned well in advance and can’t stand to wait till the last minute (sorry ya’ll!). With all this being said, here are my top 3 tips to organize your life and make things just a litttlleee bit easier!
- BUY A PLANNER- This is easily what I consider to be my most important strategy! Personally, I use this planner by Erin Condren, which I find absolutely adorable! It is her “Academic Planner”, and although she has several other awesome designs, it seemed the best fit for me due to it’s monthly calendar view, assignment overview, and weekly assignment due-date lists for each month! This means I can keep my academic life organized all in one place, but also use the monthly view and notes sections for personal appointments, sorority events, meetings, etc.! Highly recommend. I have used Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade planners in the past, and although I love them, they just weren’t the perfect option for me. Regardless of the brand you chose, pick a planner, plan it out, and USE THE HECK OUT OF IT! I like to color code my monthly view to keep everything organized…. pictures of my planner are at the bottom of this post for reference!
- USE GOOGLE CALENDAR- This iPhone app is a lifesaver for me! I just recently began using it and couldn’t be happier. I am on the go often and don’t always have my planner with me, so this is the perfect solution. It syncs automatically with Mac computers, features multiple calendar view options, and is super simple to use. I have quite a few calendars within my main screen, including one for with all due dates for each of my classes, my sorority, personal, and birthdays! These are each color coded to make things easy to see, and you have the option of only viewing certain calendars at a time to streamline things if you’re looking for one specific event. You can set the events for any time you’d like, have them repeat at different intervals, and even export to other Google Calendar user’s phones for group meetings and such. Honestly don’t know how I went so long without it!
- SUNDAY IS GROCERY DAY- I know I know, you’ve probably all heard this before. But I can’t stress enough how helpful it is to do your weekly grocery haul on Sundays!! This gives you ample time to plan out your meals for the week, get the necessary ingredients, meal prep, and be able to save money and eat healthier during a hectic week! I know this won’t work for everybody, but I would 110% recommend it for any busy college student, professional, parent, or anyone looking to live a healthier lifestyle! I find it helps me to save a TON of money as well as make healthier nutrition choices when I make/bring my own food instead of eating out on the run. One of my favorite things to do is cook large servings of some staples (chicken, ground turkey, Whole30 salad dressing, rice, etc.) for the week and put them in Tupperware containers. That way, I can just grab however much I want at the time of each thing and I have a complete meal on hand quickly! Look out for a blog post soon on some of my favorite healthy meals and tips on living a healthy lifestyle.
